Circus camp was an experience I will never forget. I learned how to use aerial silk ropes to gracefully make spins around a large room. I developed a skill that thus far has not been the most useful, but has been something I remember and look back at when I think of a spontaneous good time. A trip to take my brother to golf camp turned out to not be so fun for me, so when I saw an add for the camp I thought “why not?” As I continue to ask myself that question, I have broadened my horizons. I have become one person shaped by thousands of people and experiences, and I want you to be a part of them.
Hi, my name is Emily Crum. I live in the small town of Pikeville, Kentucky and I am a junior in high school, age sixteen. To get to know me I figured I would tell you a few random things I enjoy. I love movies with deep meanings, you know, the ones that leave you thinking and make you feel something. I love my family and appreciate them more than I can express. I paint, not well, but I find it is my favorite way to relieve stress. Lastly, and most importantly I have an extreme case of wanderlust.
Sometimes, when I am in one place for too long I find myself overwhelmed. The surface area of Earth is approximately 197 million square miles, only someone with an extreme desire to explore the world, would know that. Although I know that there is no possible way I will see every square mile, I hope to see as many as I can in this one amazing life I have been blessed with.
I am a person who was completely lost until I stepped outside. Totally overtaken by the beauty of anything my eyes had never seen. I have grown into who I am because of the things I have been fortunate to experience.
“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow” -Anita Degai
Distance is simply a measurement. The miles between us and our friends and family are not the ones that matter. They can simply be traveled, and along the way they can introduce us to new sights, people and places. With that being said, I hope you will continue reading as I update you on the miles that matter to me.
